Fair’s Nursery, located at 9340 Fair Way, has been in Maple Grove for more than 50 years. Starting out as a vegetable market at the corner of 93rd Avenue N. and Jefferson Highway, Fair’s has evolved into a full-service garden center, greenhouse and floral/gift shop.
Bud Fair established the business in the early 1950’s. He sold it to his son Mike Fair in the 1970’s, who sold it to the present owners Mark Hasse and Phil Phenow in 2000. “We strive to maintain the professionalism and customer service that is Fair’s,” Phenow said.
Fair’s continues to sell just about everything people need to enhance their outdoor living spaces. The garden center provides annuals, perennials, water plants, lawn care products, sod, bulk rock and mulch. Fair’s Nursery has a variety of trees and shrubs, many grown at its tree farm in Monticello and delivered to the store. Fair’s also has a landscape design and installation department. “Call early in spring to set up an appointment with a landscape designer,” Phenow said. “We draw up a plan, and then it’s up to you whether you want to do some of the work yourself or let us do it all for you.”
Additionally, Fair’s has a commercial-landscape department run by Mark Hasse, co-owner. Fair’s Floral/Gift Shop is open year-round and delivers flowers metro-wide and nationwide through Teleflora wire service. Not only can Fair’s take care of anniversaries, birthdays, weddings, funerals or “just because,” but they also can deliver many items from the garden center, such as rose bushes, hanging baskets, or trees for a memorial
Fair’s Nursery, Garden Center and Floral is open year round, with slightly shorter hours in the winter months. Summer hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday. For more information, call 763-425-4212.
